Dragoons Refuse Treaty Proposal!
-- Outreach News Reuters --

In late breaking news, Vorsyth Wolf, notorious commander of the Wolf's Dragoons, has issued a stunning proclamation. An exact copy of the release is below:

"This response, while long in coming, was not a difficult one to make.

From the beginning, our initial contact with Aftermath has not been pleasant. They have burned our buildings, PKd our members, and even destroyed our cities. I will not go into the reasons why such animosity has taken root, as it it has been beat to death in more lengthy discussions than this one. The fact is, we have good reason to hate Aftermath.

However, as a guild leader, I must take into account what is in the best for my nation and my fellow soldiers. The situation is bleak. We are outnnumbered; we are outtrained; we are outlevelled. We have already seen what the price of defiance to Aftermath has cost us. In terms of money, we have lost millions. In terms of time and effort, we have lost perhaps even more.

Any reasonable or sane person would ask, what is there to gain from not agreeing to this treaty? Many have argued to me that we could simply agree to the treaty, grow big and strong, and then get revenge. But this answer is simply not the path that we, the Wolf's Dragoons, can take.

We value our principles and ideals as much as the well being of our comrades in arms. I can not -- we can not -- knowingly accept a treaty that we intend to break at a later time. There are some things more valuable than our city's survival and honor is one of them.

There is also the issue of past incidents. We have long preached the evils of the Aftermath nation. What kind of stand would we be taking if we were to succumb to this peace. All past atrocities would be forgotten, and we would in essence be wiping the slate clean. Our memories are still vivid, and we do not forget. This treaty is an attempt at a 'reset' in more ways than one. Other guilds might be willing to forget, but we will not.

I will not discuss Aftermath's intentions on this server or Veil's attempts at coercion. They are inherently clear to anyone with an objective point of view. What I will say, is that we refuse to live under their yoke. No player in my guild dreamed of buying Shadowbane in the hopes that one day we might be allowed to build and maintain a city by the grace of another guild. This is not my way, and this is certainly not the Dragoon way. Death is far preferably to the sacrificing of our values.

I could ramble on and on about the reasons we will not accept this proposal, but I will leave you with a quotation from Braveheart. Yes, it is dramatic, but then again, so are almost all of you.

"Here are Scotland's terms. Lower your flags and march straight back to England, stopping by every home along the way to beg forgiveness for a hundred years of theft, rape, and murder. Do that, and your men shall live. Do it not, and every one of you will die today."

"I'm not finished. Before we let you leave, your commander must cross that field, present himself before this army, put his head between his legs, and kiss his own arse."

See you in hell. We shall descend into the darkness on extended wings."
